Impact of HIV and Its Treatment on Weight and Body Habitus

Workshop DescriptionAcademy credentialed providers, clinicians, members, and guest participants will explore the evolving challenges of HIV-associated weight and body composition changes, a concern since the introduction of antiretroviral therapy in the mid-1990s. Metabolic syndromes, including insulin resistance, diabetes mellitus, and dyslipidemia, have been significant issues for individuals with HIV. This webinar and workshop series will address these emerging health concerns, focusing on how healthcare professionals can effectively identify and manage unintended weight and body composition changes in people with HIV. Interactive sessions will offer practical insights and strategies to help healthcare providers, support staff, and individuals with HIV to enhance care and improve health outcomes in this population.
